Google and Apple have had a long-standing rivalry, constantly competing in terms of hardware, software, and various other aspects. Occasionally, these differences result in interesting manifestations.
Google has recently released clever advertisements where they playfully compare their Pixel phones to Apple's iPhones, subtly suggesting that Apple may have lost its innovative edge. The ads feature animated versions of the iPhone 14 Pro and the Pixel 7 Pro or Pixel Fold, who surprisingly form a friendship despite their rivalry.
Each advertisement focuses on highlighting the innovative features of the Pixel that the iPhone lacks. In an ad titled "Plateau," the iPhone becomes envious of the Pixel's Astrophotography mode, Call Assist, and 30x Zoom capabilities. It even admits to being jealous of the Pixel's advanced artificial intelligence.
In another ad called "Opening Up," the Pixel Fold showcases its ability to unfold, leaving the iPhone astonished. The iPhone reluctantly acknowledges the Pixel's Magic Eraser and VP features, which it has already seen and envies.
The duo even embarks on a beach trip together in an ad titled "Lifesaver." When the iPhone's battery runs low, the Pixel 7 comes to the rescue by sharing its own battery power. After being revived, the iPhone humorously blames its battery drain on binge-watching a popular show about a friendly soccer coach, referencing "Ted Lasso" from Apple TV+.
It is worth mentioning that Google often teases Apple for its design choices, sometimes yielding mixed results. The rivalry between Samsung and Apple has also resulted in hilarious ads, often centered around features or the notch. However, these ads have occasionally come back to haunt Samsung, as they later end up incorporating similar features (or the lack thereof) in their future smartphones.
